Town Receive Three Offers
Town Receive Three Offers
Friday, 23rd Jul 2010 14:01

Boss Roy Keane has confirmed that the club has received offers for three of their players.

The Blues manager has not revealed the identities of the players or clubs involved, but Crystal Palace boss George Burley has confirmed his interest in midfielder Owen Garvan, while Sheffield United are understood to be chasing Alex Bruce, Millwall have been linked with Kevin Lisbie, Swansea with Tamás Priskin and QPR have reportedly targeted skipper Jon Walters.

Keane told the club site that no bids have yet been accepted: "We have had offers coming in for some of our players.

"While I know we need players in, I'm also aware that we need to let some of our players go and negotiations are going on.

"We have not accepted any offers for our players but talks are ongoing with three clubs about three players.

"I'm fairly relaxed about it because even if we agree a fee with a club, it will be down to the player if he wants to go, but I think we are close on one or two and it could be that we have three players in next week and three moving on."

Earlier in the week, Palace were reported to have made an offer of £200,000 for Garvan, but TWTD understands that the Eagles have now bid £300,000, close to the Blues’ valuation of £400,000.

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett has mentioned his interest in out-of-favour striker Kevin Lisbie on several occasions, while new Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers failed to rule out a move for his former Watford striker Tamás Priskin.

Sheffield United are believed to be closing in on Bruce, who would probably be allowed to leave for around £200,000. Garvan, Lisbie and Bruce were on the list of eight players circulated to other clubs earlier in the summer.

Captain Walters, along with Priskin, wasn’t on that list but reports earlier in the week claimed the Blues had rebuffed an offer of £2.5 million from QPR. That figure appears unrealistically high, but it is understood that Neil Warnock would be interested in taking Walters to Loftus Road.

'out-of-favour' striker Lisbie?

that's putting it mildly!

good to see some movement on these players, our squad is way too large with too many unwanted players hanging around

I hope we keep Garvan, the only creative midfield outlet left at the club !

As far as Walters, Lisbie and Bruce are concerned lets cash in and buy a couple of better players, wingers hopefully !

SeriouslyDelusional: I think we'd all agree that Lisbie has had a poor couple of seasons for town haha. We got the best out of him for those 60 seconds in August 2008 against Preston. Its been downhill from there really

Make sure we get the money up front this time. Have Palace finished paying us for Alan Lee yet?

It will be nice to have the wages for new transfers but we seem to be the only club that others are trying to get players from for measley amounts of money.
200k from Bristol City for Stead?
300k from Palace for Garvan?
At this rate if we get Chopra in next year some one will offer us 500k.
I know we want to get rid of some players but these clubs are taking the P.
Cardiff are in a bad way and need money and they seem to be getting good offers. While we don't need money so we should be able to say to clubs we don't need to except you low amounts.

Robdaful: That's ME?Cleggs fault... they came out and said "transfer fee money: not the problem, must reduce wage budget first though"... So what do clubs think? "Hey these guys want rid of 8 players... all they are worried about is reducing the wage bill, I wonder if they'll take a silly £100k offer for x; well worth that amount!" So that's what we are seeing. Reports are that Burley has upped the offer for Garven to £200-300k, I suspect we will take £300k or close to, just to get rid of the wage... Garven must be worth £500k at least... a couple of years ago he was touted as worth £2-3M and wanted by Premiership clubs. So we'll get a little less than these players are worth... shame! The other issue is we are going for established players at this level... we are not going for the likes of players that cannot get a first team game, so by this simple fact they will be worth more. They are “just worth more” and then you add the premium for getting a manager to let go a player they don't want to loose. Ronaldo was never worth what Real Madrid paid, but that's how much they needed to offer to get the board to overrule Fergurson. You pay a premium for players that clubs want to keep…
