West Brom's Mattock Linked Again Thursday, 24th Jun 2010 09:35 Town are being linked with a loan move for West Brom left-back Joe Mattock. The 20-year-old was mentioned in connection with the Blues last summer, prior to joining the Baggies from hometown club Leicester City for a fee of £1 million. The England U21 international made 29 starts and five sub appearances for West Brom last season as they won promotion to the Premier League but, given his youth, may not be seen as ready for the step up and could be loaned out for 2010/11. Mattock, 5ft 11in tall, came through the youth system at Leicester, where Town first team coach Tony Loughlan worked between 2003 and 2006, and made his senior debut as a 16-year-old in April 2007. Having been capped by England at U15, U16, U17, U19 levels, Mattock became the second youngest player after Theo Walcott to appear for the U21s when he won the first of his five caps in a 2-1 victory over Bulgaria in November 2008. Mattock was charged with four allegations of assault last year, claims he denies, with a trial set for August 2nd. Meanwhile, former Town youth product Antonio Murray has returned to Histon after a disappointing spell with Cambridge United, while another ex-academy player, midfielder Adam Miller, has moved to the Abbey Stadium from Gillingham after being released by the Gills. South African centre-half Justin Miller, a former Town reserves skipper, has signed for Rushden and Diamonds after leaving Witts University in his homeland. Ex-Town loanee Giovani Dos Santos has been linked with a move from Spurs to Serie A Genoa. Elsewhere, Town owner and chairman Marcus Evans is reported to be switching his ticketing business to Dublin from its current London base. Evans has been chosen as the Irish Olympic Committee’s official tour operator for the 2012 Olympics, although this is yet to be ratified by the IOC or London 2012.
