Town boss Roy Keane says today’s emergency loan deadline will see no moves in or out of Portman Road. The Town manager [said speaking at lunchtime that] there [had then] been no developments on Pim Balkestein’s proposed move to Brentford.

Keane said: “We’ll stick with the group of players we have. They’ve generally done well recently in terms of getting some victories under their belts, so we’ll stick with what we’ve got and we’ll get on with it.”

The Blues boss says that there has been no progress on Balkestein’s loan with a view to a permanent deal to Brentford: “There’s no news on that and I’m quite comfortable with that.

“Our squad’s not that big and people like Pim still might play a part between now and the end of the season particularly if there are injuries because there’s a busy few weeks ahead.”

Keane will be without striker Connor Wickham for Saturday's game against Swansea as the 16-year-old is away with England's U17s: "Connor is away for a week or so and we don't begrudge not having him around.

"He will only miss the Swansea game and it will be a good experience for him to be away with England. He will be with boys of his own age, as opposed to being around and playing against 30-year-olds.

"He will have to change his mindset. It will be a different set-up with England but if you are going to play at international level you have to get used to that.

"I want him to go away and enjoy it though, because it's great for any of our players to play international football."

The England youngsters play Sweden at Northampton’s Sixfields on Saturday, Malta at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium on Monday and Slovakia, again at Northampton, three days later.

Keane is hopeful that Wickham will sign his professional deal after he returns from England duty. The striker is 17 next Wednesday which means he is able to sign a pro deal.

Fair enough, don't think there is too much point in changing the personnel now, current squad has done very well in recent weeks - things are deffo on the way up ready for that big push to the Prem next season.

I think RK needs to learn to just shut-up. He's constantly contradicting himself. "Never play again, play again" - "need some fresh faces in, stick with the players who have done well"

Keep quiet and get on with some work

^ I think you put to much faith in "press reports"
iv seen no contradictions from Keane... he said once that some players will never play for him again and that is a fact some have not and never will
you cant blame Roy for your gullible approach to speculation from the press on who certain players might have been.

4 nil against St Mirren is the equivalent of town letting in 4 against Stevenage.

Nice chap, not a bad player, good captain, boring to listen to, I hope he finds anohter job (in Scotland).

Mogga for Keane in a swap might be a good move! I dont particularly want Keane out but my confidence in him turning ITFC into promotion material is dinstinctly low after some of our recent performances. Mogga has shown he can get teams promoted from this division playing the "Ipswich" brand of football and knows the club. Keano is a Celtic man so it could be the answer to everyone. Not sure it will happen but i'm sure mine isnt the only mind the thought has crossed. Then again it would be more funny if Lambert leaves the budgies to go to Celtic!!!!!

Not Mowbray..we need some passion on the touchline..Has to be the Burley/Holland partnership imho.

Roy Keane is the greatest manager we have had for years. Hopefully, he gets us into the Premiership; he will then become the greatest Manager we've had in decades...Get behind him, and the team....

Agree with sonian blue on this one. Mogga , as much as a top servent to us is not the inspiration we need, although some stability and consistency would be nice.

Mogga has plenty of passion ...especially for ipswich as was seen week in week out on the pitch for us and on the touchline when he was a coach for us and then again on the pitch when he had to come back into the team to get the rest of the team playing...
Just because a bunch of Celtic Tarts who imagine them selves to be supporters of a leading club in the world of football because they are in the top 2 of a pub league every year say he has no passion on the touchline it doesn't make it true

he is certainly one of the most passionate people iv ever seen at Ipswich on and off the pitch
if he has at any time appeared to have no passion for Celtic it is most likely because he is deep in thought working out how he is supose to challenge himself in a yo yo league of 2 teams with nothing really to achieve except trying to look like a real club in europe for a change...
In doing so he let a couple of games slip while his mind was wandering off with the boredom of Scottish football recalling why he played in england in the first place... at some point (around january) he thought i know ill get rid of these pansy ass players who think they are untouchable and keep giving me lip and ill get some in who deserve a crack ill still finish 2nd this year if i put untrained chimps out and i can get the new boys playing some actual football so next year we can win the league and do well in europe
then he thought feck it these idiot fans have no concept of change and what it takes and what initial drawbacks it brings they can carry on playing 2nd fiddle to the rest of the world along with Rangers if im lucky Roy Keane will grab my job and i can go home to a real football club and win the uefa cup with Ipswich in 2012-2013 season

Mowbray certainly showed alot of passion for us when he turned down the managers position her a few seasons back didn't he?, we ended up with Magilton- another player with alot of passion, and that's when our problems started.

Blueknight85 added 18:12 - Mar 25
we couldn't afford a real manager back then skip and he wouldnt have had room or funds to do anything .....the reason we could only get a Nooby........

When we needed a manager a few years ago, I believe before Jim got the job, Mowbray was mentioned, but quickly distanced himself from the job, so why should we replace our manager, with somebody who did not want it when first linked with it.
Roy has a two year contract, let him see it through, this season has been a transitional one, he has made mistakes, but then he is not perfect like some of the contributors on this site, who always know best, even when talking crap, and do not have the skill, knowledge or experience to do the job themselves

grumpyoldman those are all my opinions of Keane to but i would still like Mowbray
and all you know is he was linked with the ipswich job...you dont know if he was actually aproached... and even if he was you dont know the ins and outs of any deal that may or may not have been put infront of him...so what gives you the right to attack his character in such a way?

I don't understand this obsession with getting a manager in with "blue & white blood" who once played for the club. Did Fergie play for Man U? Did Arsene Wenger play for Arsenal? Did Ramsey and Robson play for Ipswich> No, no, no and no. Pick the right manager, who he used to play for is totally irrelevant
