Taylor Wants Signing Before Season Start

Leicester manager Peter Taylor has said that he wants to bring in another striker before the beginning of the new season. The Leicester manager recently bid for Town's James Scowcroft and despite naming no names Taylor's statement certainly doesn't rule out Scowcroft, a player he has admired since he days as England U21 coach.

Taylor said: "The player we're after is the one we've always been interested in and talks are still on-going between ourselves and the club concerned. He's someone that we feel would be perfect for this football club and I'm hopeful of getting him in before the start of the season. I can't name an exact date or time but we are prepared to wait for him. If it all comes to nothing we'll have to take another look at the list, but we are optimistic. If we manage to bring the player in, it would be a tremendous signing for us."

Earlier stories have suggested that Town would be unwilling to sell Scowcroft until a player has been brought in. If it is completed the Finidi George deal could see the end of Scowcroft's spell at Portman Road. Charlton, West Ham and Coventry have all also been linked with Scowcroft. The fee is usually quoted as between the £3m and £4m mark.
