Baptiste Determined to Take His Chance
Baptiste Determined to Take His Chance

Trialist Kerry Baptiste says he plans to make the most of this week’s trial with Town, an opportunity which he has waited for during more than a decade in football. The 28-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international will be looking to win a place in the Blues squad alongside international team-mate Carlos Edwards.

Prior to flying out from Trinidad, the striker or right midfielder said: “It’s been 11 years now I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this and I intend to make the most of it.”

If Baptiste, who currently plays for Joe Public in his home country, impresses the Town management he wouldn’t be able to officially join the Blues until the transfer window opens in the summer.

What like Kerry Dixon you mean?
I wish him well, he's obviously on a golden goal streak, who knows could be the missing link?

I personally think he is too old to adapt to english football from the TT league, but i hope i'm proved wrong.

I agree with Stainless. Its very late to be stepping up into English football. If he was four years younger he'd still have a chance, but he can't join us until the summer and would have to be performing from day one to be worth signing on anything other than a year-long deal. Can't see it somehow, but happy to be proven wrong.

Don't care if he has got girls equipment as long as he scores goals.

No idea re reserves, probably not I would have thought if he's contracted to Joe Public but I'm not really sure of the ins and outs of Trinidadian football.

By all accounts, good winger-cum-striker. Got a turn of pace, knows how to finish, technically good and a bubbly personality. Won't be 29 until December, so age not so much of an issue - and could be seen as a David Healy replacement in the summer, if Healy doesn't start scoring. About the same stature (small!), and obviously knows Carlos which is a big plus - despite size, bizarrely scores lots of headers though. Definitely worth a look.

Stainless i couldnt disagree more, a few years ago my local team rushden & diamonds signed a 30 year old jamaican called onandi lowe from a jamaican team, and his goals fired an average conference side into what is now league 1 in three years, they then sold him to coventry and he scored 1 in 1 for them ... before being arrested and deported for dealing cocaine haha. point is, just because he doesnt play at a high level now doesnt mean he isnt class.

Apparently it is true, funny story though. Give the lad a chance. May have just been overlooked previously. Ok yes he is approaching his 30's but if he does prove a success he's got four years or so left in him. Looks like Steady's going to be on his was in the summer so we will need some permanent strikers at the club, (hopefully Healy and Murphy) but this guy could be a real find.
