Murphy in Reserves at Southend Wednesday, 17th Feb 2010 13:23 Brian Murphy’s inclusion in the side for this afternoon’s reserve game at Southend (Roots Hall, 2pm, admission free) may be a hint that the former Bohemians keeper is set to make his first team debut at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. Earlier this week manager Roy Keane said he intended to play youngster Ian McLoughlin against the Shrimpers and could have made the change in order to get Murphy nearer to match sharpness. The 26-year-old has been on the bench in recent weeks having injured ankle ligaments during the warm-up ahead of the Leicester match, after formalising his move from League of Ireland champions Bohemians at the start of the year. Murphy played for the reserves at Norwich last week and Keane may feel he needs another match before he can come into contention to replace Arran Lee-Barrett between the Town sticks at Hillsborough. Reserves: B Murphy, Ainsley, Brown, Eastman, O'Connor, Yao, Hyam, Upson, Lambe, Martin, Wickham. Subs: Thatcher, McLoughlin, Cawley, Murray, Griffiths. Photo: ITFC.
