Pablo: I Didn't Touch It
Pablo: I Didn't Touch It

Striker Pablo Couñago has admitted that he failed to get a touch on the Carlos Edwards long throw which ended up in the back of the net in the second half at Southampton on Saturday. Referee Andy Hall gave a goalkick rather than a goal due to no one connecting with Edwards’s throw.

Couñago told the club site: "I tried to get a flick on it but didn't touch the ball. If it didn't touch anyone else then the referee got it right

"It was a very disappointing result for us. We controlled the game for the first 25 minutes but in the second half we didn't create many chances and now we must look to react against West Brom on Tuesday."

Meanwhile, boss Roy Keane says Jon Walters’s hamstring injury will be assessed prior to the game against the Baggies: "It's a blow because he's an important player for us. We will have to see how he is over the next 24 hours."

After Saturday's game Keane said he expected Walters to miss a couple of games.

That headline could be applied to Pablo's entire second half performance (except the goal I suppose).

I do wonder sometimes - one of our strikers scores 2 in 2 and some berks has to criticize him.

I was there, and as bad as we were in the second half, Pablo held the ball up well on the few instances he got it, allowing the midfield to join the attack. My goodness, Stern John was shocking. Slow, lazy, uninterested - no passion or drive whatsoever. We really do need a goalscorer.

Please stop playing Stern John and send him back asap.....he is clearly no good. Felt sorry for Walters in the 1st half....he ran his socks off (as usual) whilst John rarely even moved at half pace!!

I would rather we persist with our own players like young Priskin, Pabs and Stead. Get Walters back on the right. Our team looks fine accept for up top, where we have struggled to get a partnership all season.

Fingers crossed John will get bombed out tomoro night!

Pabs is a player who needs a bit of service in order to bring other attacking players into the game, I wasn't there but if the rest of the team didn't really click then was unlikely to have been his day either, shame he couldn't quite get to it though or we'd be back at Portman Road for a reply. I'm right in believing Steady returns tomorrow night? Pabs and Stead up front for me.

Pablo and Stead should start tomorrow night. That should be our front two, agree Walters is best on the right.

Pablo is popular with the fans for a reason, no he's not scoring as many as he should be, but he is a quality player who opens up the game for others. Given a decent run he should improve, but then none of our strikers have been given enough consecutive games this season to settle!
Pablo & Stead for me tomorrow & injury permitting a decent run together.

Will be great to see Stead back as he was in great form, Suprisingly I would say Saturday was the first time we have looked like we really missed him. Big game tomorrow night and we have to get something from it, and I believe we can!

Fiar enough. Honesty is the best policy. Shame we didn't at least draw the match - think we probably deserved too - yet would we really have wanted a replay?
