Norris Steps Up Recovery
Norris Steps Up Recovery
Wednesday, 16th Dec 2009 02:00

Midfielder David Norris came through an hour of a training game at Playford Road on Tuesday afternoon without feeling any ill effects. The former Plymouth man has been sidelined since suffering knee ligament damage on the opening day of the season at Coventry City.

The match was Norris’s first ‘competitive’ action as he continues his recovery from the injury, which was inadvertently inflicted by team-mate Jon Stead.

Last week, manager Roy Keane said he expected Norris to be ready for first team football in less than a month: “He’s done really, really well but let’s remember the boy’s been out for a long, long time.

“It’s good to see him back, we’ve missed him. I’m thinking around the new year would be a fair timescale for David to be back in the first team.

“If he was to do well in the next week or two then I wouldn’t rule him out being in the squad [before then], whether he’s in the starting XI is a big ask. But sometimes it’s just nice to get these players back around the first team squad as it gives everyone a boost.”

What do you mean "Is he any good?!" Have you any interest in Town, or are you on here coz your lonely!

A fit & playing well Norris will be a massive boost to our midfield, can't wait to see Norris paired up with Leadbitter, they will be a superb centre pairing.

Good to hear that he's on he's way back.

Musn't pin too many expectations on his return though. If we are to get to the play-offs (big IF), then the whole squad needs to be performing well.

I love the fact that everyone has extended a lovely warm welcome to bjc! A newer supporter I assume! BJC - norris is an absolute work horse and can run a game! He is a MASSIVE boost to the squad when he's back!

Chalkandcheese - it's not always that easy to get to the games (you need to sell a kidney to go to a game!) and even if he had he still wouldn't know who Norris is - he hasn't played all season!

What's that menna mean? He did it all on his own, it had nothing to do with John Stead??!

This guy is the difference! Just hope him and Leadbitter will pair up well in the centre, if they can play well together, best centre mid in the league by a long way!

5,6,7,8!

I do fear we're building up Norris' return to be the second coming. We can do ok without him. Obviously we will do even better with him fully fit and in form. I trust in Roy - who's had his own fair share of long injuries -to know exactly at what rate & time to bring him back into first team contention. If it's done right he will be fresh & peaking form for the run-in...and maybe those extra games.

ItfcFtw - Norris's injury had everything to do with Stead, It was Stead he collided with when shooting on goal at Coventry
