Peters Wins Cap as Canada Lose
Peters Wins Cap as Canada Lose
Wednesday, 18th Nov 2009 22:41

Jamie Peters picked up his 21st full Canada cap as his side lost a friendly 1-0 in Poland. The midfielder turned full-back was the only Town player in international action on Wednesday evening.

Asmir Begovic was an unused sub for Bosnia as they lost 1-0 at home to Portugal in their World Cup play-off, the Portuguese winning 2-0 on aggregate.

Fellow keeper Brian Murphy, who joins the club in January, was also left on the sidelines as the Republic of Ireland controversially missed out on the World Cup, drawing 1-1 after extra time in Paris on the night but losing 2-1 over the two legs.

Elsewhere, academy striker Ronan Murray missed out as the Republic of Ireland U19s lost 2-0 to Italy in their final European Championship qualifying group game in San Marino but had already made it through to the next phase.

Sickening goal by Thierry Hand,ry .At least Ireland showed they can play footy for the first time in years.

Amazing to hear one of the Irish lads say "I don't blame him(Henry)...".

Well, I do. If you cheat, then you are to blame - nobody else. Nobody asked him to do it - he made the decision himself.

And if anyone tries to tell me it's the fault of the officials for not spotting it, then they are simply wrong.

Would accept a handball if it meant we won on Saturday !!

Hopefully by playing last night Peters will be too tired to make our squad on Saturday. Along with Trotter what does this guy give us.

League 2 players at best.

Well, I would 'accept' it, as I would have no choice in the matter.

You can argue that in a league these things (cheating/dodgy decisions) even themselves out over the course of the season, but in a cup competition they don't.

I just don't like the creeping acceptance of cheating as being 'just part of the game' - not just in football, but all sports.

Hmmm... ...better take my medication.

Yallop totally agree ,Peters works hard and has pace but is no defender because of his positional sense ,and has no final ball in attack .Needs coaching and nurturing and maybe loaning to lower levels .
Trotter i just cant see it

And Paddy ,2 games against lower standard teams in the league does not make Delaney super defender what about all his other games this season where he has been awful ?

What is the point of all you supporters on this site ? All you do i bloody moan, Get behind your team and stop slating everybody !!!

Leave Peters Alone, yea he abit inexperienced but been one of better players this season out of a poor bunch, And I never said delancey was a super defender, i also wouldnt say he was awful at left back ( better than thatcher )

If it was walters or pablo in delaney situation none of you would say nothing

So stop giving people stick and get behind your team and support them !!!

For the record I actually quite like Delaney based on his last 2 performances and for me is worth his place in the team!

My opinion differs on Peters and Trotter as I can't see what they give us. Also on what basis Paddy has Peters been one of our better players?? Ok he had one good game at left back. All of his performances in midfield have achieved nothing. I can't remember him creating a chance this season!

Good because it annoys me when people get on delaneys back, yer he had a few poor games at left back but he wasnt awful as some people make out.

I rate Peters and he is a good squad player to have about, maybe not starting 11 but useful to have on bench, also about Trotter, he hasnt been awful either, he has done a job asked of him while norris is still out and plus their is nobody else to play in that holding role at the moment

I'm not one to criticize our players, but Delaney was awful to start with - he looked slow (of both foot and brain), and disinterested.

However, his recent performances have been much, much better.

He needs to maintain this improvement.

I'd have Quinn or even Healy ahead of Trotter. But I suppose it's all about opinions!

If Delaney wasnt awful at left back why were we playing Peters there out of position above him ?
Norris is an attacking box to box midfielder like Leadbitter who was bought because of Norris' injury ,will be interesting to see him in a holding role .
And Paddy why is it we have to support Delaney,Trotter and Peters underperforming week in week out but you cant support the idea of bringing Garvan back as far as i can see he is still an Ipswich player why dont you try getting behind him ? Garvan has provided me with a lot more good days out ,goals and performances as an Ipswich fan than the lot above put together or even Mr Keane so far .

I never said delaney was awful at left back i he better at centre half, Leadbitter will more than likely be the holding player once norris is back or the will chop and change, but they will be our 2 centre mids !!! you dont have to support those players, its the team you should be supporting and not moaning all time, call yourselfs real supporters??? and yes garvan is a good player but he looks disinterested and he is too slow but i think he should be on bench as he can change a game

Why dont people get behing the team and keane and stop bloody moaning !!!

Redmond added 18:56 - Nov 19
Peters might not be one of the best players we have but he works his socks of every game he plays and but i would have Edwards, Norris (when fit), Leadbitter, Walters in the mid.

Tractor_Boy_Paddy added 19:59 - Nov 19
I agree with Redmond, Possibly the best mid in championship ??? or even Civelli on left with walters up front with Pablo ??

Peters is not good enough for any team hoping to get promoted. He's supposed to be a winger but when was the last time he set up a goal or scored? Ineffectiv
e player and if he has been one of our best players then help us god!,
