Forest and Scunthorpe Linked With Garvan
Forest and Scunthorpe Linked With Garvan
Sunday, 15th Nov 2009 09:50

Nottingham Forest and Scunthorpe are the latest clubs to be linked with out-of-favour Town midfielder Owen Garvan. Previously, Cardiff City were claimed to be interested in signing the Irish U21 skipper on loan with a view to a permanent move.

Garvan hasn’t played for Town since the 2-0 defeat at West Brom in August. The 21-year-old recently turned down a loan move to League One Colchester United.

Always been a big Garvan fan (as he's one of the only players who can actually pick out a pass and actually use his LEFT FOOT unlike any other midfielder except the injured Civelli) but I'm starting to think that maybe it is time for him to move on.

Keane's management style just doesn't seem to suit him. Players of erratic form like his (sometimes completely runs the game, other times goes missing and does nothing) and very much not welcome under Keano. It's "one bad game and you're out". Always. And Owen is the sort of character who gets completely disheartened very quickly. He essentially needs someone to put their arm around him and tell him he's still a good player, not someone to say "Right, you're crap. You're out." (which is why it's so bizarre that Keane bought Martin and Priskin, who are very much the same kind of character, and why it's no surprise they find themselves on the bench so much). A move would do him a world of good.

Although he hasn't played much under Keane we shouldn't forget that many people still rate him very highly (as he constatly appears in lists of experts' and managers' "ones to watch" in the championship) so we should get a decent fee for him. Nowhere near as much as we would have got last year, mind you, but still a decent amount. It would be a shame, but understandable if it happens.

Yet again more teams are linked with Garvan - he should NOT be sold or released as he has great potential . All he needs is the right sort of manager to bring out the beat in him . It is Keane who should be released !
