Walters to Keep Armband?
Walters to Keep Armband?
Monday, 19th Oct 2009 17:08

Boss Roy Keane says he is undecided who will captain the Blues if Alex Bruce returns to the side when Town take on Watford at Portman Road on Tuesday. Jon Walters has worn the armband during Bruce’s recent absence due to a groin injury.

Keane said: “I’ll have a look at it. It’s not something I’ve thought too much about.

”I talked to Alex at the start of the season and said we’d see how it pans out. Obviously Alex has missed the last few games because of his groin injury and I think Jon Walters has enjoyed it, so that’s a decision for me to make if Alex gets back in the starting 11.

“I think Jon’s led the team well, and I think Gareth has enjoyed the fact that he can just focus on his game. You’d like two or three captains in your team.

"As a striker Jon doesn't play in the best position to be a skipper but he leads by example in the way he trains and plays the game."

Town have no new injuries after Saturday’s draw against Swansea but midfielder Carlos Edwards will come back into Keane’s plans after being rested on Saturday. Asmir Begovic will continue in goal.

CAreful Reuser, you'll get panned for speaking your mind on here. Especially against our 'legends'.

Think Walters should be captain, he show's the passion we need from the whole team, if everyone puts in that effort we will be getting our first win tomorrow night.

If not walters, Leadbitter would be good, he has the experience of what it takes to get promoted, what we need is to pick someone and keep with them, not change the captain every game, once we are settled we will start winning games, lets hope it's tomorrow night.

Forgot what winning is like now, what we need is a new out and out striker from the prem and central defender on loan and we will be getting those wins.

McAuley and Smith should be given a settled run in the side. If they keep shipping the goals, then maybe Thatcher should be given a run in central defence when he returns from injury.

Think Walters will be a good captain, but think that Garvan maybe in with a shout when a new manager finally arrives!

Been told by my mate this evening, who's uncle is kit man at the club, that Keano has two weeks to save his job and Shearer is being lined up as a possible replacement. Have no idea if there's any truth in it but not too sure if that would be a smart move taking another inexperienced manager on board even though it would give the players a much needed morale boost.

here is my prediction Ipswich to draw with a good young Watford side last 2-2, remember they have won five of last seven against Town, so we will have to wait for that illushive first win at Plymouth 1-2 on Saturday. Put some money on it.

Not at all, im not one to come on here to randomly stir a fuss and claim I have 'sources within the club' to try and get respect from a keyboard and all that rubbish. It's mereley what I was told, so thought i'd share, probably rubbish though.
