Lincoln Targeting Town Loanees
Lincoln Targeting Town Loanees

Lincoln City caretaker-manager Simon Clark was at the Town reserve game against Stevenage Borough yesterday to run the rule over some of the Blues’ fringe players. Bryan Klug’s men won the game 6-2 with Reggie Lambe netting a hat-trick and Ed Upson, Colin Healy and Luke Hyam all scoring once.

Clark, who also watched Norwich's reserves on Tuesday, says he has identified several targets: "We took in a couple of reserve team games and we have identified four players, two from Ipswich and two from Norwich, with Football League experience and I will be speaking to their representatives."

Lincolnshire sources are linking Healy with a short-term spell at Sincil Bank with the former Cork man having failed to make an impression since joining the Blues in the summer. The former Cork man scored a superb chip in yesterday's game and did well playing in a role behind lone striker Lambe.

The Bermudian international and Upson may be amongst a number of players Town would want to send out on loan to gain first team experience, with representatives from other clubs also likely to have been at Portman Road yesterday.

Upson spent a short spell with yesterday’s opponents last season but made only one fleeting first team appearance while at Broadhall Way.

Summer signings Shane O’Connor and Troy Brown, along with academy product Jack Ainsley, who signed his first professional contract with the Blues during the close season, may also be players the Town management may look to loan out during the season.

Lambe, Upson, O’Connor and Ainsley all made their senior debuts in the Carling Cup tie at Shrewsbury with Upson also featuring in the second round tie at Peterborough.

Meanwhile, former Town loanee Danny Simpson appears unlikely to make his return to Portman Road with Newcastle on Saturday due to an ankle injury. The Manchester United man has been given only an outside chance of being involved against the Blues.

it would be great to get Ed Upson, Reggie Lambe, Troy Brown & Jack Ainsley out on loan , possibly Ed & Jack will find it easier than the other 2 as they have played a good part in the 1st team this year with bench appearances, but Reggie scoring a hat trick yesterday will be very beneficial for him

i rate lambe as a good prospect but tbh they could all do well as long as they dont suffer from 'promising itfc youngster' syndrome lol

some may disagree but i recon getting healy out on loan wouldn't be a bad shout. Theres obviously some potential with the lad and some weekly first team experience in english football might help expose this

Potential in Healy ? he is over 30 years old if he is not good enough now he will only get worse never understood this signing ?
Is there really any point sending players out on loan to lower leagues ,if they do well everyone says it is because they are in a lower league as with Clarke & Rhodes and they are not given the opportunity in the first team ,if they do poorly we just get rid of them .
When are we getting loan players ? As far as i can see we still have the poor defence we ve had all season !! Another RK match report coming "Our Defending Let Us Down , Bad Goals To Give Away" sounds like Jim

Healy is actually 29 and clearly has been a decent player in the past.
loaning him out would be good for him, get some regular first team football in, and bring out the class that he has shown for other english clubs!

why would we sign a 29 year old with the view to sending him out on loan to gain experience...... at that age the only reason we would loan him out would be to inflate what ever lowly price he is clearly worth. someone like reggie lambe it is definatley worth sending out on loan to gain 1st team experience! unfortunately for healy he just isn't good enough for the championship and is proof that we shouldn't sign players after one good game against us! ( in a friendly!!!!!!!!!)

totally agree but he is here now and not playing so we may aswell send him out on loan! but jonny walters was signed after having one good game in the cup against town playing for chester city... so clearly sometimes those gambles do pay off!!

robbo123 he didn't play in the friendly he was at another club in England talking about a move to them. So RK obviously did not buy him on one good game against us. One day our supporters will have a clue but I am not going to hold my breath.

Healy is not good enough for Ipswich. Letting him out on loan at 29 to get experience...! Have a word! Not good enough and is not going to get any better. Free transfer back to Ireland.

Surco72..Colin Healy is not Keanes mate from Celtic.Healy left the club in '03 and Keane played with them in '06.How can you expect people to take a post serious when you type such poor facts. Some of you people would want to take a look at yourselves. It is sad that you would not give a man a chance to settle into a new club and a new home.Healy might still do well with the club and deserves a chance.

Redx ...you obviously took it seriously enough to comment !! it wasnt meant as being serious as my other post suggested , i just cant find an explanation for such a poor signing !!!!
If you think a player of Healys standard will do well for Ipswich after he settles!! then you need to look at yourself as he is nowhere near the standard of most good championship midfielders and certainly not premier or even Shumi who we let go

I dont understand why we brought him we already had much better midfield palyers than him so why waste money! I know it wasnt a huge fee but we have to pointlessly pay hes wages as he plays in the reserves. One of the worst signings ive seen ipswich make but can anyone remember that Amir Karic who played only once ? lol

I do think that Lambe is promising youngster, letting him go would be a mistake

Sending Lambe out on loan would be a good thing - let him get some 1st team football under his belt. ITFC first team needs senior players, not youngsters with limited experience at this stage. Lambe and others would benefit for first team football.

As for Healy, well, wouldn't be bothered if he went full stop. Not a good signing. Not good enough at this level.

So many "Good young talents" have failed in the past, I hope these lads are an exception.

To anyone in the Healy debate.... How old is Delaney? Not much younger than Healy surely, and he has had a few bad games, but now look, his last 3 games have been very impressive and tbh I can see him having a big part in our defence this year. Just shows, however old you are you still need a good run of games to settle down.

i don't think enough has been said about this Jack Ainsley lad!
From what i've seen this season he has been brilliant up and down the right wing like an experienced Right Back i say give him the chance at town and watch him make a mockery of the current ITFC Defence!
