Town Still Chasing Loanee
Town Still Chasing Loanee

Manager Roy Keane says Town owner and chairman Marcus Evans is continuing talks regarding bringing a loan player to the club but was unable to announce any progress at Friday’s pre-match press conference. Last week, the Blues boss revealed that he was targeting two loan players.

Keane said: ”There’s no news. In the background the owner’s trying to make progress on one player, but I’ve no update on that.

“I’ve been focusing on working with the players that I’ve got and looking at the game tomorrow. That’s as much news as I have for you.

“I’m not going to go into it, but there’s one area I think we need to improve on, in terms of helping the team and the squad, and I’ll keep working on it.”

Elsewhere, reports in Bolton say the Blues are yet to make firm loan offer for Wanderers central defender Danny Shittu, who earlier in the week turned down a move to Sheffield United.

Bolton manager Gary Megson says the situation was more that the 29-year-old didn’t fancy a move to Bramall Lane rather than doesn’t want to go out on loan: “I asked him if it was Sheffield United he didn’t fancy or just that he didn’t like the fact of going on loan, and it was Sheffield United.”

Very interesting that it was Sheffield United that Shittu didn't like, might still be some hope then. Sounds like we're chasing someone other than him at the moment anyway... fingers crossed.

In Keane We Trust!

We need Shittu soon or someone else the centre of defence looks weak with our options compared to the other sides in this league and against experienced strikers ,big worry .

Souper Jim where did you get your picture from ?

Gary Doherty has been made available, I think that would be the worst signing ever but I an just imagine it being some average Irish Player. But to be fair, it not fair to class Doherty being as good as average

Regarding jims pic I have the poster its from Ladbrooks or one of the large betting chains. I got mine a few years back after we had just been relegated. The guy said I could have it as he wouldnt be putting the poster in the window this year!!

So Danny Shittu already hates Sheffield United. This confirms my long-held belief that he really is a Town-player-in-waiting.

ITFC fans should now be affectionately known as "MUSHROOMS" as we are continually being fed bull5h1t. Last week we were supposed to know more about two loan signings at the start of this week. Now we are only making slow progress on one! How much of a head start do we intend to give the rest of the division? I thought that we got a certain Mr Keane on board because of his pulling power ha ha.

Though I am a positive person, I find it hard to see Danny Shittu wanting to drop a level. Things looked bright when Nosworthy was linked to Ipswich but he just wanted to "prove himself" by keeping the bench warm at Sunderland. I would like Shittu to prove me and a few London based Town fans wrong by making the best move of his career down to Portman Road... but I can't help but feel that this deal may go tits up...

Rather than get rid of McAuley, i would drop/sell Bruce, hes a liability.

It says marcus evans is trying to get a player , not clegg. That sounds very hands on and very unusual. Im wondering if he is talking to Mr Levy his friend at spurs .

well well well , its a maybe and the man in question definitely would improve an area of the team --scored 4 in 8 games for us !

Has everyone failed to noticed the important part of the pre-match press conference..?!

“I've been focusing on working with the players that I've got and looking at the game tomorrow.”

IMO Keane has got it spot on - leave the owner to sort the business end whilst Keano gets on with working with the players we have. Clearly nobody is going to come in to play for tomorrows match and so his focus is on using what he's got! I think he will bring good fortunes in the end - just look at the quality of players he's bought in so far!

I maintain that we'll still come good in the run up to xmas and finish in the bottom of the play-offs and go up after a nice little day out at wembly!

lolITFC please tell me you are joking. Bruce is much better than mcauley. He is loved by the fans and always gives 100% in my opinion a perfect captain for years to come. Get a solid centre back like shittu next to him and i will for the first time in a long time feel confident with our defence. Id also play david wright at left back miles better than delaney.

how can anyone say bruce is a liability. plain and simple, he is our best defender at the club. always wears his heart on his sleeve and def best candicate for captain this season

We need a center back but guys - we desperately need a quality striker. Counago is no good, Stead seems to be not in very good relationship with Keane, Priskin is (as I expected) a disappointment, Wickham is young. We need an experienced one who will not only score goals but help his partner (whoever he may be from these we have) improve his play. I know it is difficult and we must be patient but I pray this is the real "area" that Keane refer requiring improvement.

georgidoundarov.
The real area that needs improving and always has, the area that has always let us down, the area rk has done nothing to rectify is
central defence. Its abismal 3rd rate and if not sorted urgently the reason we are relegated.
We have good strikers they need some quality service to produce and they aint getting it at the moment.

Bruce does wear his heart on his sleave, i agree, but he also cannot tackle for toffee, is always on his backside and unfortuantely will probably end up being banned for plenty of games due to yellow/red cards.

The badge kissing, fist pumping just dosent do it for me, replace him with Shittu and keep McAuley in the team, sorry, but its my opinion.

We need to keep Bruce and Mcauley, its just bad form and lack of confidence atm. Of course we we still another CB as well.
I wish town fans were'nt so negetive all the time!

dubblue added 15:58 - Sep 18
Agree we need a striker that can score 5 goals in 7 goals not good enough.
Even if we get a loanee we need cover so I would not be in a rush to sell any player at this stage unless they want out.

Pensky added 16:28 - Sep 18
Whilst I agree LollITFC, getting rid of Bruce would mean me and my mate Bernard could no longer chant “Bruce” - just slightly out of synch with everyone else. And we'd miss that.

Pensky ....yo and 'your mate' are probably a couple of bernards ... start singing in time ... i expect you sit near those Felixstowe slags dont you ?

Pensky added 16:55 - Sep 18
I don't know of these Felixstowe folk you speak of. But the atmosphere in my part of the North Stand is very village. But it suits me and Bernard, we're both from Leiston.
