Sunderland Confirm Murphy and Healy Available for Loan
Sunderland Confirm Murphy and Healy Available for Loan
Wednesday, 9th Sep 2009 16:58

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that strikers Daryl Murphy and David Healy are available for loan. The Blues have made repeated attempts to sign Murphy, while Healy was again linked with Town over the weekend.

Bruce said: "There's been some interest in those two players from Championship sides, so we will have to see what happens. But they are the ones most likely to be leaving.

"There's no doubt that they need to be playing games and it's very difficult for them to get that at Sunderland right now."

Middlesbrough are also believed to be interested in Murphy, while Coventry boss Chris Coleman has confirmed that he has spoken to Sunderland regarding Healy: "We had a conversation about a possible loan but that's as far as it went.

"We obviously know all about the player, but the one deal that suited us apparently didn't suit the player, so as far as I am concerned, unless it is resurrected, at the minute it is dead in the water. But, knowing football, stranger things have happened."

Newcastle United and Watford were also claimed to be interested in the Northern Ireland international over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Liam Rosenior, who joined the Blues on a season-long loan last week, has confirmed he is looking at a longer term stay at Portman Road: “I'm a free agent at the end of the season and hopefully I will still be here with Ipswich if we can get up.”

Glad to see Rosenoir is liking the prospect of being at Ipswich full time, means he will put everything into getting us up!

Neither can score so where are they going to play?
CB=Murphy, LB=Healy?

Maybe Sunderland will give us some money to take them.

We'll see, think healy might be worth a punt, can't see anything wrong with having a range of strikers to our disposal, bring on boro! If we can get a result at the riverside I'm sure it'll kick start our season, not an easy place to go by any means, they have had a few players leave this summer, COYB!!!

I don't want to see Murphy but Healey might be interesting. We need a 20 goal man from somehwere and it doesn't have to be Sunderland again does it. With Edwards likely to be playing on the right perhaps Walters will get a run upfront?

Yeah waltes and priskin so far i reackon ^^? give priskin a few more games and he'll be banging in goals for fun, everyone say we need a 20 goalscrer well i think we have it (PRISKIN) give him a few games and with the liks of Edwards And Leadbitter delivering him the balls why not? because thats what he's been lacking. But lets hope we get Someone like N'gog or someone like that. COYB

Would be happy with either or both!

I would be happy with either of these two, either way its only a loan so if turn out was bad they could easily be sent back.
I have this feeling tho that come the end of the week we will see david healy banging em in for someone like cardiff, and murphy will be at middlesborough also bangin em in! Just a feeling but one i have had before!"

Neither of these are the answer. Some people seem deluded into thinking David Healy is a prolific striker. Sure he's scored a few for northern Ireland but he has never scored 20 goals in a league season and hes 30 now...look at his goal record and its no better than Pablo's!

Both are overpaid and over rated! Come on Roy cast the net a bit wider!

I would be ecstatic to have Healy at PR but not so happy about Murphy. Anyways if they both come it would be great. Then and only then we may send Stead on loan although I prefer to get rid of Counago if I can help it.

Can't believe you morons want to get rid of Pablo who has looked the business since coming back from injury. Thank christ RK is the manager not you morons.

i dont want them two players they are not what we need, left back is all we need and all it will take is one lucky goal and we will start flying

I think it is worth adding David Healy to our ranks, something we much crave in the striking department, not to sure on Murphy though..

we could do worse than get Healy in... you dont score all the goals he has at international level, esp for a limited side such as Northern Ireland, if you're a bad player... i would be very happy to see him at PR.

To be honest i would rather see Healy than Murphy come in but either on would do me so long as they can put the ball in the net. As for Rosenior i think he would be a pretty decent signing on a free, good going foward and a fullback that can cross the ball. I am a David Wright fan dont get me wrong but i do feel he does lack a decent cross.

You just know we're gonna try to get both. Exactly how big is Bruce's Sunderland squad? If he's not careful he'll forget he needs at least 18 players to play his own games. If people start calling us "Sunderland B" you can't really argue with them, can you ? I'd put up with it if it improved the squad, though.

SO Rosenior only looking to stay if we go up? Shame!

Would not touch Murphy with a barge pole after turning us down on previous occasions. As for Healy what has he done for heavens sake scored a few cracking goals for NI but cannot do it at league level. No thank you rather have what we have got. I still think we need a brick built centre back then we have a half decent squad.

No and no! Healy has scored alot for NI but has done much at club level.

RK is poor tactician and is fearful of casting the net wider for talents... he's only looking at signing/loaning ex-players that he has worked with, that's cheap trick... both healy and murphy are not good enough signings, i agree that pablo + stead would be just as good once the supply of crosses and passes are forthcoming.... COYB!
