Fans Face Difficult Decisions in Ireland

Whenever you travel abroad to watch football, you never need a local pub guide or web search to tell you where you will find your fellow countrymen (and women). They are bound to be in the local Irish pub. It works in every country in the world, and saves a load of hassle organising where to meet people.

But this weekend, Town fans will find that their essential cultural referencing is of no use at all, as we're playing away in Waterford and Cork, in Ireland itself. And both places have hundreds of Irish pubs.

To the rescue comes Liz Edwards, chair of the official Supporters Club. She explains: "I realised it would be impossible even for the most hardened of away followers to manage a pint in every single Irish bar in Waterford, so I got in touch with Martin Colbert of their Supporters Club to find out what to do.

"I've had a number of chats with Martin, and he provided the best possible pub recommendation. Norris's Bar, 73 Barrack Road, is just a few minutes walk from the ground. It is a Waterford Supporters Club regular haunt and they have promised us a great welcome. Oh, and it is Martin's pub!"
