Former Town boss George Burley has revealed that full-back David Wright has expressed an interest in playing for Scotland. Wright, born in Warrington, qualifies to play for Scotland through his grandparents.

Burley told a national newspaper: "The player has stated to the staff at Ipswich that he is keen to play for Scotland, so we will now check to make sure he is eligible. I've been told that the bloodline is grandparents on his dad's side.

"David's name was mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago. I have actually seen him quite a lot over the last few years at Crewe and when he was at Wigan with Paul Jewell.

"He's one we will be keeping an eye on now and I will be watching him personally at some point."
