Liam Trotter netted the second goal of his loan spell at Grimsby as his side won 2-0 at Bury despite being down to 10 men for 74 minutes. Trotter headed his side in front from close range in the 17th minute.

Matt Richards was also on the scoresheet, notching a rare goal for loan club Brighton but in vain as his side went down 3-1 at Carlisle. Richards looks likely to join the Seagulls on a permanent basis when his loan expires in January.

Elsewhere, only two more of Town's loanees were in action. Striker Dean Bowditch picked up a yellow card as his Brentford side won 3-0 at Port Vale, while full-back Dan Harding was back from his hamstring injury and played the full 90 minutes as Southend drew 2-2 at Tranmere.

Billy Clarke is temporarily back at Portman Road for treatment on a hamstring problem before resuming his loan spell with Darlington which ends in January, while Chris Casement's Hamilton weren't in action, although the Town defender has rarely been involved with the SPL side since making a half-season loan move to Scotland in August.
