Jim: Glentoran Gave Us a Tough Game

Boss Jim Magilton felt Glentoran gave his side a hard game at the Oval on Saturday afternoon. The Town manager felt his side were lucky to be on terms at the break after the Irish Premier League side had had the better of the opening period.

Magilton said: "It was another really tough game, especially in the first half. Glentoran started the game better than we did. I think we were quite fortunate to come in at the break at parity.

"It was a really worthwhile exercise, I hope [Glentoran manager] Alan McDonald feels the same way. I think Glentoran are a very good side.

"The three games we've had here have all been tough games, starting with Cliftonville and Donegal Celtic, and now Glentoran.

"It's been a fantastic week for us and the hospitality that's been shown to us was something I didn't expect. I'm sure our players will go home with some fantastic memories.”

Town's next senior friendly is at Gillingham on Wednesday when Kevin Lisbie is likely to get his first run-out in the Blue shirt.

Magilton is hopeful that he will have made further additions to his squad with Richard Wright set to finally make his return to the Blues from West Ham, perhaps as soon as on Monday.

Rudi Skácel's signing from Southampton may not be too far behind Wright's recruitment with the Czech Republic international's agent indicating that his player's switch to Portman Road wasn't far from being completed towards the end of last week.
