Colchester Offer Lisbie Improved Terms
Colchester Offer Lisbie Improved Terms

Colchester United are reported to have offered Kevin Lisbie a new deal in an attempt to prevent the striker moving to Town. Lisbie's current terms still have two years to run, but the U's are believed to have made him an improved offer in order to stop him joining the Blues.

The former Charlton man has already undergone a medical with Town and looks set to complete a move for around £600,000 in the next few days, perhaps even joining up with the squad in Belfast later this week.

Lisbie, 29, has said he enjoyed his time at Colchester, however, it is unlikely that he would eschew the chance to remain in the Championship whatever the deal being offered by the Essex club.

Meanwhile, Jim Magilton says Gary Roberts could win himself a place in his side after an impressive start to pre-season: "Gary has got a chance. He's looked sharp all pre-season - he has come back lean and fit and he has done very well.

"We're looking for competition for places. He is going to put pressure on whoever he is vying for a place with.”

Roberts could find himself up against Rudi Skácel for the left midfield role if the Czech completes his move to the Blues later this week.
