Striker Jon Walters says he is starting to get used to life as a right midfield player after being switched from his striking role during pre-season. Walters was again Town's man of the match as the Blues defeated Coventry 4-1 on Saturday.

The January signing from Chester told the club site: “The manager has shown a lot of faith in me and that is always good for the confidence.

"He wanted me to play wide and it's worked out OK so far and I do find that you don't get picked up as easily as you do when you are playing up front.

"The movement of players like Alan and Pablo is helping me find space and obviously it's been nice to get on the scoresheet a couple of times.

"I'm still learning the position though, and it helps to have David Wright behind me, telling me where to go.

"Tommy Miller is the same and Sylvain, even when he hasn't been playing, has been a great help. When we get a break in the play and go to the bench for a drink, he's always there to pass on instructions."

Walters says hard work at Playford Road in the week up to the game was an important factor in Town's comfortable victory over the Sky Blues: “The homework was done for us and we worked on finding a way beyond Coventry on the training ground all last week.

“We were told that we could catch the two full-backs out of position as they both like to go forward, while central defender Arjan De Zeeuw is not as young as he used to be and we could make use of ground down each side of him.

“There was a lot of movement up front and we looked as though we could score every time we went forward.

“The manager, coaches Bryan Klug and Steve Foley and chief scout Steve McCall all played a big part in the victory. They deserve the praise.”
