West Brom manager Tony Mowbray's decision to make Ronnie Wallwork available on loan has led to speculation that the former Manchester United man could be a Town target before Thursday's emergency loan deadline.

Reports in the Midlands have apparently linked the 29-year-old holding midfielder with the Blues.

Mowbray says out-of-favour Wallwork can leave the Hawthorns: "When he's asked to play he plays well. But Ronnie needs to go and play football. He's been on the bench and on the periphery.

"He played well against QPR but I feel as if Ronnie needs to go and play, which is why his details have been circulated. With two further quality midfielders coming back in Jonathan Greening and Zoltan Gera, he is going to get further pushed back.

"It's a benefit to the player and the football club if he gets first team football somewhere else and we won't stand in his way."

Town currently have five players on loan and boss Jim Magilton cited reaching the limit for short-term signings as the reason for Tommy Miller's loan move collapsing last week. Miller, who subsequently joined Preston on loan, could still move to Portman Road on a permanent basis in January.

Meanwhile, Cork City attacking midfielder George O'Callaghan continues to train with the Blues having recovered from his recent bout of shingles, not meningitis as erroneously reported in October.

The former Port Vale man is likely to join Town on loan in January when Gary Roberts's move to Portman Road is likely to be made permanent and Simon Walton, Matthew Bates and Jon Macken are due to return to their clubs. Mike Pollitt is with Town for a month.

Elsewhere, former Town target Dele Adebola could be on his way to Leeds before Thursday's deadline. Leeds boss Dennis Wise is understood to be ready to make a bid for the Coventry striker.

Sky Blues boss Micky Adams has reportedly been told to reduce his squad before his board will allow him to loan Town midfielder Darren Currie. Currie is expected to complete his move within the next few days.
