Spanish general election 21:08 - Jul 23 with 1104 views | BarcaBlue | Most were predicting a clear win for the right / far right but it's looking like a draw between the 2 coaltions. So the next government is going to depend on who can win over the Catalan and Basque regional parties, and that's unlikely to be in favour of any government including the far right Vox.

Since I posted the right / far right have a 7 seat lead and Andalucia has turned from red to blue. It's getting a bit too close.

Looks like the far right Vox party are going to lose almost 20 seats with the main centre right PP party gaining about 45. Andrew Neil id providing excellent updates on twitter. https://twitter.com/afneil [Post edited 23 Jul 2023 22:05]

Yep, the right wing party Ciudanos have disappeared since the last elections in 2019 and you'd imagine most of their votes went to the PP. The Socialists look like getting 3 or 4 seats more than in 2019. The independence vote in Catalonia has tanked and are now in a difficult position - there's no way they will support a government which includes Vox so their bargaining position is a lot weaker than they're making out. Looks like another election in the next few months with the Socialist coalition limping on til then. Any agreement between the Socialists and independence parties will be a massive vote loser in the next election.
Spanish general election on 08:27 - Jul 24 with 750 views | DJR | This is a good site, and doesn't rely on knowledge of Spanish, if (like me) you are interested in clicking on the map to drill down on results at a local level. https://elpais.com/espana/elecciones/generales/congreso/#?int=widgetEP And very good to see the right wing populist party, Vox, lose 19 seats.
