Any recommendations?

Bit peeved to discover Book Depository is owned by Amazon.

I'm sure everyone else in the world knew but I didn't.

My publisher has a good online store with loads of books:

https://www.jmdmedia.co.uk/

And if you use the code: FULLER20 that will give you 20% off any book.

I think Waterstones do their best to price match Amazon and you could arrange pick up from Bury St. Edmunds to get around the postage and packing,

It would probably cost me more in fuel than the delivery!

I do need to go to Bury in the next week or so as it goes as I have some stuff to take to the fancy recycling centre so could pop into town whilst there.

I like Waterstones and tend to spend too much time and money once I'm through the door.

But am thinking more in general at the moment what with the dreaded Winterville festivities on the horizon. I'd like to use n independent where possible/affordable really but liked the range BD offered. Of course anything successful is flipping owned by someone bigger now it seems.

https://uk.bookshop.org/
Enables you to nominate an independent bookshop to profit from your purchase.
As far as I am concerned, anyone but the tax-avoiding bastards of Amazon.

Blackwells are great. Often reduced prices and free delivery too.

There are occasional bargains to be had on eBay if you’re after fishing books.

I do use them as it goes and agree they're pretty good.

I just assumed they're owned by Elon Musk or something.

*Victors if you see this, I don't live near Ipswich but ta for the thought.

Happy enough if anyone has any suggestins of independents in Bury or at a push Sudbury.

I have had suggestions of electronic books which is my fault as I said 'online'. I should have made it clear I meant to order books. Got kiddies presents to buy for Xmas as well as for myself.

Elephant, I'm not into fishing, not for many years. The closest I get to that is the odd episode of Mortimer and Whitehouse.

We came across the Blackwells shop whilst on a break in Oxford a couple of years back; they recommend their website to us. If I remember correctly they said they had branches in several cities with universities. Well worth a visit if you see one.

Amazon and their offshoots Abe and Book Depository (amongst others) get included on eBay listings so it is not the best place to help with the aims of the thread I am afraid.

I have bookmarked the thread and have looked at everyone's links.

Some great sites offering an array of material.

All noted and appreciated, thank you.

I'm a bit late to the ball, but https://www.justbooks.co.uk/ is effectively a price comparison site which includes Blackwells, Ebay, Amazon, AbeBooks, Biblio etc.

You can search for new or used books or both, and it is a very good sight for rare books.
