...that rings true for me now I've listened to Cook's debrief. After the loss on pens to Arsenal U21s (which was very near the end), the writing seemed to be on the wall. And in his post match, Cook was asked about Kayden Jackson. He said something along the lines of 'Kayden's 100% a totally honest player, and honesty...couldn't we all do with that quailty at the moment.' (I'm paraphrasing and haven't got the exact words right, but pretty close I think) I said at the time it was aimed at Ashton. I think Cook knew at that point his days were numbered, or certainly that he'd lost Ashton's support. McGreal had been brought in without his consent and he felt the walls closing in. It ended messily and badly as these things often do. Paul Cook the man didn't really deserve it, but Paul Cook the manager of ITFC brought it on himself. IMHO. | |
