Jack Ross doesn’t seem to be all he was cracked up to be then.

Spent £4m on Grigg (£4m in league one!!!) to add to an already massively expensive squad and looks likely to finish 4th.

Nathan Jones also struggling at Stoke, starting to see why the merry-go-round managers keep getting jobs.

Sunderland's form has been woeful going into the play offs. One win in five. Just seven days ago they had promotion in their hands until Peterborough equalised in stoppage time.

So we’ll have to compete with at least one of Sunderland or Portsmouth next season. That makes the division slightly tougher.

Would rather it be Portsmouth that stay tbh.

Another Portsmouth vs Sunderland Wembley final ?

A repeat of Sunderland vs Charlton from 1998 is on as well.

Not really. Luton and Barnsley are obviously better than them.

They also offered Leadbitter wages that we couldn't match.

Charlton have had a very decent season. Can't say they've been on my radar at all.

Indeed re Jack Ross's 'achievement'. Second season out of Prem and substantial parachute payments in League one . . . . Failure to secure promotion this term will undoubtedly be seen as a a big black mark on his CV. I think they have one more season left on significantly reduced parachute payments?

Surely, they are going to have to sell and/or significantly reduce their wage bill for the coming season if they don't get up through the play-offs this season?

Tbh I think Barnsley are stronger than pompey and Sunderland. Wouldn't be surprised to see Charlton go up as the other 2 will be gutted they didn't go up automatically.

Whilst he would've probably fared better than Hurst, i do agree with you that he doesn't seem to have been as good as was suggested.

Absurd amount of money in that league, players and talent and based on resources, they should've walked the division. Be incredible if they lose in the play offs too now.

4M on Grigg and wages we couldn't match for Leadbitter. Crazy.
