If there was one thing which stood out to me from the game, it is just how different the mindset and approach of the U23s is to how the first team has been in recent years. All of the players continually look for the short crisp pass, in tight spaces, and even the centre backs are happy turning a man and looking for that ball rather than lumping it. Im quite sure that wouldnt have been tolerated in a MM side. It must be so difficult to progress from one to the other with such an obvious disconnect in styles and expectations.
We looked very comfortable indeed first half, and fell away rather in the second without ever looking in serious trouble. |  |
