Shelvey should have been in IMO for Loftus-Cheek, but as he hasn't been near the squad it would have actually been quite perverse if Southgate had succumbed to media pressure & picked him. |
Shelvey is a different type of player to RLC.
RLC has been through the England system, and was MoM against Germany. I think he merits a place.
RLC retains possession well, is good at driving play forward, can go past a player and can pass.
Shelvey is a decent player with a good range of passing, but can go missing. Remember he was struggling to get in the Newcastle team before Xmas. |  |
