Love a good launch, but why do they have to give a 'narrative' or a small story as it goes up? Apollo era launches were much classier. Countdown, ignition, lift off, tower cleared. though, 'God Speed John Glenn' was pretty epic!

It's cool, it's just a shame the technology being used is pretty much out-of-date and the cost per mission is thus absolutely astronomical.

because NASA has to fulfil a role as STEM educator thesedays and inspire school children so its very much in the wow science is cool media mindset, because the politicians and tax payers wont let them just be steely eyed missile men who just say make rocket go now.

plus there is a launch fever to these events in person, if its something youre involved as work no matter how small a part or something youve followed as an interest,a launch like that, and make no mistake that was a LAUNCH, the most powerful rocket we have ever launched (successfully) in history, let alone for the past 49 years 11 months, you get caught up in the excitement and emotion and there were people at the launch site literally having full on emotional breakdowns just trying to talk about it, NASA were quite calm compared to some of the online feeds.

as an example

I cant imagine what the first manned launch will be like.
