Maybe....or it could just wind up other customers of theirs who get nothing like the same treatment.

I remember as a kid waiting to collect autographs as a team of top internationals making up one of the best sides in Europe used to arrive at the ground in their sponsored Austins and the like with a sticker own the side saying 'Paul Mariner drives an Allegro' or similar.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

They probably couldn't give a monkeys, he's a local celeb with a significant social media following and no doubt agreed to make the above post in exchange. Barry from Copdock doesn't have the same clout on twitter...

I would have a chuckle if Norwood had a mare and locked his keys in the car again tomorrow.

You have to ask yourself how Phil and Gav feel, after all their work on the Audi account over the years, without receiving this sort of special treatment...

Edit - I bet that's Mark in the picture with Norwood too...

As Coastalblue pointed out, footballers sell cars it would seem and have done for some time. It's a courtesy car, which in itself is at their discretion. They're unlikely to give out R8s to everyone who needs a bit of work done, but probably will to someone who earns enough to put serious money their way in the future and has the social media profile to attract further business. I'm far from championing capitalism here, but it's naive to think Barry is going to get the same treatment and a waste of time being upset about it imho.

Do footballers sell cars though?

Does seeing Norwood get an R8 courtesy car make you go 'I'll buy an Audi?'.

All it does is increase their media profile but, quite frankly, Audi's profile doesn't need raising. Imagine how much more effective the garages profile would be if they did get publicity for giving Barry from Copdock an R8.....
