We should be brave and keep Bart ... 14:29 - Jun 25 with 720 viewsActionMan

To gain a million pound and a reduced wage bill is less important than getting promotion. We're hardly breaking the bank as a club, even at this level and that wholesale 60% wage drop will have had an effect already.

Yes, he had a pretty rough season last year, but prior to that he'd been our best player for years and we should be aiming to retain our best players and build for Championship football next season and thus Bart has to be an Ipswich player and part of that.

We've gained absolutely nothing from selling Cresswell, Mings, Murphy, Webster, Waghorn, Garner and more over the years and we've ended up losing money anyway, we may as well put the football first for once now surely?

Keep Bart, bring in a couple of solid Championship standard defenders and a striker to work alongside Sears and Norwood in whatever system we choose and we should have a fair chance of going back up, if we sell and strip back too much we're gambling with what should be a dead cert. Promotion. Let's just do it right this time.

Your reasoning assumes he regains the form of a couple of seasons ago, that's not a given.

He should be more than good enough for the third division though, thats the point. Having said that I have just seen the piece from Lambert about how we're again looking a free transfers again so clearly very few lessons have been learnt from the leadership of the club, because we've ended up at this level due to our unwillingness to spend - is our ambition simply to just exist and never progress?

Bart needs to move on. We cant afford his wages. He screwed the Club down for this expensive contract , taking six months to sign on the dotted line, ( no doubt half hoping a big move would happen on the back of his world cup squad involvement), Now we’re on league one , he’s simply too expensive to keep now. And as Ive said many times before, in my opinion, his basic goal keeping skills leave a lot to be desired.

We have what looks to be a very, very good replacement ent , at a fraction of the wages ( I suspect), and he didn’t sign for Town to play second fiddle to Bart.
