Just been told that Lambert is trying to woo George Boyd to Town - would make it the fifth attempt the club have made to sign him during the course of his career I think!

Would be available on a free and could certainly play the wide role of a front three pretty well.

No thanks.

Didn't one attempt fail because his eyesight was considered bad?

If he turned down McCarthy's brand of football then he could clearly see well enough.

If I remember rightly that was Forest who turned him down because of "eyesight issues".

I actually went to Uni with Boyd's best friend - Boyd came up to party with us a few times during our three years in Leicester. Will be doing some more digging to see whether this one has legs.

Been injured all season, going to be costly even for us, no thanks

He's going to Peterborough.

If he hasn't got legs not sure he will be suitable

Although still a better signing than Leon Best

Think we could do with some pace in the team. Not convinced he would be the right signing.

No he's not. Been ruled out by MacAnthony.

He's not remotely what we need and would be a costly signing in terms of wages. Can't see there being anything in this.

That is a shame, because we definitely don't want him.

On a side note, rumour appeared from a website or something that we had showed an early interest in Marcus Maddison (on a free).

He ruled us out immediately stating we couldn't afford him. Quite depressing that we can't afford a free agent from Peterborough,

At 32-33, he won't be able to command the kind of wages he could at Sheffield Wednesday anymore.

We still need a blend of experience with this current crop of youngsters. He's been a part of several promotion-winning squads in the past too. The more players with a winning mentality around the place the better IMO.

He's scored 1 goal in 22 games this season, will be 34 years old by the end of the year, wasn't quick in his prime, does not fit into the quick attacking football Lambert wants to try and implement.

Big no no.

Exactly the type of link that makes my heart sink.

Cant see there being anything in it at all.

Time to ignore the countless transfer speculation stories.

He has zero pace and is kind of similar to Judge in terms of where and how he likes to play. Although he'll be taking a wage cut he'd still want a big salary by League 1 standards. Think he'd be an expensive luxury to be honest. If we're going for wide players/withdrawn forwards we need ones with pace to give us more of a threat going forward. Just don't think he's the type of player we need. Nothing against him, I was gutted when we only got Taylor and missed out on him but that was years ago in a very different scenario.

Yep, signing him now would just compound the mistake of 7 years ago, rather than rectify it.

MacAnthony, but like you said wouldn't trust a word he says, some of the stuff he writes is laughable.

Doesn't look like he can afford him either otherwise he wouldn't be leaving on a free.
Darragh MacAnthony - £150m
Marcus Evans - £800m

Boyd has publicly rules out Stevenage (for the time being) on the basis that his family are settled up north and he won't be coming down if he can avoid it.

So we would only get him if we were the only ones that wanted him and were willing to pay over the odds. Thats not a very attractive (or likely) prospect.
