Still struggling to understand the whole contract situation, as the club have stated numerous times that they need 3rd party to contribute to some of the costs - to find a "commercial solution"

I know as an athlete he has plenty of image rights and his own sponsorship deals, but if he was desperate to play there could be some form of compromise

I thought this as well. He looked more than decent in that charity game recently, which was televised.
