There will be some eager to over play his achievements and others too keen to shoot them down.

I just hope he does well.

And there was me thinking from the op that you were eager to over play his achievements. What do I know?

I do not begrudge him doing well but some on here seem to think he is going to be the best player in the World, if not already that.

He might have a successful career in football but then again, he might not.

The big issue is we thought we had a contract option we could take up - why wasn't that watertight? And how many of our other contracts are worded in this way - and effectively not worth paper they were written on?

Yes but who dropped the ball on the option? Why wasn't this sorted after he started playing well at Aldershot? Whether he goes on to win a ballon d'Or or ends up in non-league from the outside looking in, we look a bit naïve and glacial.

We are producing and scouting good players but transition to being consistent first team starters seems to be a problem. Watching Dozzell yesterday he should be used frequently next season. Again, outside looking in, Mick seems to be the problem for bedding them in. Give him a run of 10 games and see what happens. You could argue that he's already won something more notorious than anyone in our side.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Presumably Milne, who is a lawyer by trade, or the club secretary who was in charge of writing the legal terms of the contract.

Whilst it's glacial, if manager told that we've another year to sort then so much can change in that time there's really no great rush. Very harsh to lay blame here at Mick's door.

Celtic: Brendan Rodgers praises recent signing Olivier Ntcham after Lyon display

Olivier Ntcham joined Celtic in a move worth around £4.5m
Brendan Rodgers says Celtic new boy Olivier Ntcham proved he has the ability to play at the very top level in Saturday's friendly defeat to Lyon.

The Scottish champions fielded a makeshift side in the 4-0 reverse and Rodgers was delighted with the 21-year-old he signed from Manchester City.

"For Ollie it's about fitness - you see how he moves in the game today," the Celtic manager said.

"He has the qualities to play at the very highest level."

Ntcham, a French international youth player, spent the past two seasons on loan at Genoa in Italy.

He played for just over an hour of Saturday's friendly and Rodgers reckons that was enough to show how vital he will be.

"His range of passing, it makes the game look very simple," Rodgers added. "He can play short, play long, he can dribble and shoot.

Kundai Benyu
Kundai Benyu has played his way into his manager's plans for this season
"He has everything to be a top, top level number eight. It's just timing really, that's his first game so 65 minutes was enough for him. He'll just build up his fitness over the next few weeks and when he's ready he'll be a big player for us."

Another player to have recently signed a four-year deal with Celtic, Kundai Benyu, has also made a big impression on his new boss.

He played more than 70 minutes on Saturday and Rodgers admitted the 19-year-old, signed from Ipswich, has forced his way into contention.

"Young Kundai did really well," he said. "He's surprised me to be honest. I knew he was a good player, you can see what we're trying to build here in terms of players who are technically gifted, but they have to have good mobility and good physicality, and he has that. He's come in and played with a nice little edge, he's competitive and he's got confidence.

"How he receives the ball is very good, he's an attacking player, he wants to get goals and he's actually quite exciting.

"Initially the plan was to have him in, thinking he would maybe get an idea of how we work and then go on loan, but I've sort of changed my mind on him after watching him. I think it's going to be good for him to have at least six months with us, see how we train, see how we work, get an education on our footballing idea then review it again in January and see where he's at.

Always easy to moan about youth transition and say Dozzell should be given a run of ten games and "see what happens".
The truth was proved on here a while back, that we are actually one of the top teams in the league for playing youngsters.
The reality is that you cannot legislate for just "giving Dozzell 10 games and see what happens". That may be a managers intention, but if he's targetted as a younger, smaller player, or if he has spells where he is completely anonymous, as he understandabley will what is a manager to do? If the current midfield is playing well why break them up? If you are playing teams set up in certain ways. What about Dozzells physical limitations, playing game after game at this level. There are 101 reasons not to just "play da yoofs".
Dozzell should play as much as is warranted, and I think Mick will do just that. Hopefully, bit by bit he'll grow into an great player integral to the team, but don't just order Mick to play him for the sake of it.

Good luck to him.
What are you suggesting we should have done, and at what point?
The article seems to suggest he may have an outside chance of a game or two at a level worse than the championship. Should we have given him a better wage and promised him more games etc?
Should we have done this before his loan, when he looked destined for non league obscurity? Or should we have given him massive promises on the back of half a season in the conference? Or wait until after the loan and we're competing against Celtic, and he'd chose Celtic?
