Back in the eighties I got an invite to see QPR v Liverpool at Loftus Road and after the game we went to the players lounge to meet the two sides. We also had our pick of the food that was typical of its time.
Do players from both sides still meet up post match these days? Are supporters still allowed in?
I am sure that aren't pilling into the beer and sausage rolls but wondered if this get together still happens in the modern game.
I guess it changed gradually. Back in the 1970s & 1980s, most players would go to the lounge post game & sink a few pints. As a 16 year old, I was bought a pint by Peter Taylor after the Crystal Palace v Orient game in 1974.
I think I recall G. Zola in his early Chelsea playing days saying that it was something he liked when he moved to England, and that he'd chatted to more opposition players in one season in England than he had in all his time in Italy. But of course that's also a long time ago now.
