Just logged in again and it says the queue begins at 10 - guess I'll wait and see what happens then

Really not sure what happened or what was supposed to happen. Said I was in a queue at 9.00 but at 10.00 nothing happened so I logged in again and it said I was now 1700 odd in the queue so I gave up. I was trying to get a ticket for my grandson but he'll have to wait a few more years now - if Norwich ever manage to get promoted to the PL again.
Can someone explain how that queuing system was supposed to work please?
