Even the Wednesday commentators (who have been ridiculously biased) thought it was offside.

Surely too intimidated also makes them crap. We were 2 v 1 and the ref blew up, 2 if not 3 yards offside not given. Absolutely appalling officials again!

They need to come down hard on them for this. They won't, but they should.

Sorry, but it's up to the ref to draw attention to objects being thrown, & pause the game if necessary.

They're being paid as professionals - & it's completely unprofessional just to cave in to pressure & do nothing but be intimidated into giving horribly wrong decisions which could affect promotion chances, with all that entails.

Is it just me or are we getting the rough side of every decision that is vital. We get goals ruled out when there's nothing wrong with them and goals score against that are clearly offside. This has to be the worst league in the Division. Make you wonder if officials have it in for Town. Things are supposed to even themselves out. Not a lot of that happening at the moment. Still we are top as the other two behind us drew as well. So not all doom and gloom.

Close, but I think the ball was probably level or slightly ahead of Smith, so onside.

They're not being paid as professionals they all have to have full time jobs.

OK, I'd forotten the difference between L1 & Champ, but my point still stands re either their deficient eyesight and/or their bottling decisions against hoome crowd.

Absolutely, they were awful, couldnt handle the crowd.or the occasion but they are not paid sufficiently. Is that a big part of the problem? Joey Barton was making that exact point before the game with us and it's hard to believe the FA / EFL cannot afford to pay a proper wage to referees. Having said that the professional referees are also generally really poor but theyre not as bad as L1.

To be fair the ref didn't speak to both managers about taking the players off, it's up to Wednesday as a club to stop this sort of thing from happening. Didn't see one steward or copper getting involved

FYI

Rule 11
A player is in an offside position if:
any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents’ half (excluding the halfway line) and
any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent.

In other words it is completely irrelevant about the ball, if there is only one defensive player (Walton, in this case) between the attacker and the goal. Clearly offside.

Ultimately down to us, if we finish teams off properly then the officials don't matter, we always leave the door a jar for incidents to happen that's town, was a country mile offside,

We finished Barnsley off and look what happened there. Game plan worked today although we were under the cosh for 15mins in the first half we did weather it. I would have backed us to have held on today if it wasnt for 2 terrible decisions by the officials.

Whatever you think of the officials they are entitled to expect a safe place of work. It’s the second time this season. I wouldn’t blame the officials one bit if they just abandoned the game. EFL would then have to get involved rather than brushing it under the carpet (which is probably what will happen here).

The ref today could have made more of a stand by abandoning the game. That would have drawn attention to the issue (though we wouldn't have been impressed at the time unless we were given the win!)
