I had a hamster when I was 8.
I was into Action Man stuff at the time and was keen to play Action Man stuff with my little friend.
He got to ride in tanks, sleep in tents, ride the waves [ok, bath] in the Action Man raft.
He piloted the helicopter. (Yes, I was spoilt, my parents split when I was little so Xmas was a guilt trip).
He also jumped from my bedroom window wearing an Action Man parachute.*
I can assure you that hamsters are not immortal.
