Solskjær has been backed by ManU 12:10 - Jan 23 with 2209 viewsGuthrum

That's him gone, then ...

Tho a ManU supporting friend of mine was the other day bitterly hoping there wouldn't be an unlikely win over Liverpool, which might prevent the club's problems (as he sees them) being exposed and dealt with. He doesn't entirely blame the manager, but does feel he isn't coping well.

The management are clearly in it for the money and Woodward is clueless.

Having said that Ole is still doing a bad job. It was a terrible appointment. The one thing Man Utd have is money, why not spend it on a decent manager? They gave the toughest job in world football to someone whose biggest job was Cardiff.

Its a shame, I kind of wanted him to do well, such a likeable fella.

But he's like the work experience kid thats been allowed to press a few buttons in the big factory and he just seems so out of his depth its scary!

Watching Mike Phelan run things from the sidelines the other day as Ole hid in his jacket was pretty damning.. shame.

RIP Sir Bobby

Either that or a four year contract extension!

I think they were hoping to achieve what Chelsea have done with Lampard - ex-player for the feelgood factor, better style of play, solidly top four. Annoyingly, the London club have managed that while under a transfer embargo, so doesn't even come down to better purchases.

That'd be a fair enough hope to give them some credit, but Chelsea had more reason to make a call like that. Man Utd basically could have appointed most managers if they wanted to. You want someone both on the up but with a bit of experience either coaching or managing at the highest level.

Who knows what the answer is now, presumably they sell Pogba and then make a call on how long they give Ole. Maybe despite the lack of progress he is now the most likely to turn it around, but it could take years, and it sounds like the fans are beginning to turn now.

May they suffer decades of failure. We’ll see how many tourists turn up in the front row taking pictures when they’re 14th and not winning anything.

Should never have sacked LVG

He's not being supported as no structure in place, but he's clearly not good enough either - if they let Pochettino get to a new club before OGS goes then they deserve everything they get

They keep waiting for the next Fergie, he doesn't exist - you can't run a big club like he did any more.

It was the fans who were demanding they give him a permanent deal, owners never learn, the one thing owners should never do is listen to the fans, the Cobbold's didnt and that gave us part of our great history.

There's times when i've thought they look very good and you think there's something to hang your hat on. Then others where they've looked clueless and he looks out of his depth, way out of it.

I personally think he needs to get to the end of the season buy 3 or 4 good players then see where they are next season, for United changing a manger again may set them back even further but Poch is the obvious choice as he gives young players a chance and likes attacking football. But would he do massively better with the structure there?

Clearly they need some more players and they should be doing better although i would suggest 4th is the highest this team could go in it's current capacity.

But 4th as their ceiling means something is badly wrong, - they should be competing with Man City and Liverpool and the only reason they aren't is poor decisions off the pitch.

Man City and Liverpool may be big spenders, but they are both very smart - they sign players on the way up, Man U have been giving them their last big pay day. But now they have flipped and gone for just youngsters. They are light years behind those 2 off the pitch, and it is now showing on the pitch - there is no way they should have fallen as far behind

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - utter madness to offer him a long contract when he would have been more than happy to accept a rolling contract if it had been offered. Can't say I'm bothered though.

they had a pretty decent manager, who highlighted where the problems were in the recruitment of players and what areas were lacking, but was sent packing because the class of 92 didnt like him because his team didnt play the "man utd way".

its probably why OGS has lasted this long because none of his playing mates in the media are prepared to actually go for him like they did the previous fergie replacements. so they pick on Woodward for that old classic not got a football background doesnt understand the game...wonder if he got them to paint the turnstiles...

for all the its the Glazers fault for not spending money, theyve spent roughly 550-850million pounds on players since Fergie left only 7 years ago. thats a transfer budget that seems to be on a different planet to most football teams.

and why would any successful manager now take the Man Utd job, where youll spend your whole time fielding press barbs from Neville, Ferdinand or Scholes etc etc

Woodward was the one who was pressing for big names, he wanted galactico signings, that's been fairly well documented in the past.

Woodwood in his area of expertise is obviously brilliant at his job but 4 managers have all failed under his stewardship, that should ring alarm bells. Managers weren't blameless either, but Jose had made the mood around the club so dark that he needed to go.

Allegri and Poch both on the market, 2 of probably the best 6 or so Managers in the world, be very surprised if they stick with Ole.
