Another example of boris speaking without thinking or listening. The government and the Houses of Parliament authorities say it can't happen.

The funniest outcome would be for the money to be raised and the testing to start.

During the testing the bell is dropped and irreparably damaged.

An expensive vanity idea that's poorly thought through, costs loads and will quite likely cause costly and lasting damage if and when it does happen? I can't think what that could be a metaphor for.

But nah, serious note.

As someone who has become much less materialistic in the last couple of years to reduce waste, taking up space and buying stuff I don’t need, it baffles me anyone would want to waste money ringing a bell. So many better causes. These people wouldn’t piss on a homeless person if they were on fire but will happily pay for a meaningless piece of nationalism. It’s gross.

Same goes for the millionaires and billionaires who suddenly had an unlimited amount of money to fix a big church that caught fire.

They’re tvvats. Does that explain it?

They have to have someone to blame for their unrealistic bubble being burst. It’s the only way they can function. A lot of people criticised the Labour leadership for being protesters and not suited to govern, well its the same with this lot. Except for some reason they’ve been put in positions of authority.

Not from the public purse. Boris said he was working up a plan, but, quelle surprise, that was a lie. Francois has set up a crowd funder instead. But the commons authorities have said there’s a problem accepting donations from the public. Meanwhile, the bell remains broken and it would cost more to fix it quicker and delay more important restoration work.

So all in all, a poorly thought through idea that’s unrealistic or unnecessarily expensive and disruptive.

The perfect metaphor.

It is for the thickos their Eurasia or Eastasia. A faceless force that all 'evil' can be blamed on. Just as in Animal Farm where all failures were blamed on Farmer Jones.

To question who this oppressors are would be pointless, as they are faceless beaurocrats.

A convenient force of anonimity. But an even more convenient label to rally the stupid into thinking that being'useful idiots' for the rich they are somehow fighting against some kind of national threat.
