To be fair Phil, the Lanchashire Post seem to be very much along your line of Bolton chosing not to take him back.
But they to add some context, he looks as though he damaged his ACL ligaments on his debut and didn't return until October, probably more reason they didn't want to take him back. Just scanned your post so didn't see that was added.
