Wycombe Referee 11:59 - Dec 16 with 4388 viewsflimflam

Speaking to a chap over the weekend who is high up in referring world and said the referee for the Wycombe match got marked down for 5 major errors

1 - Ipswich goal should of stood. Linesman said if Ipswich player had touched ball then he was offside but was unsure he had touched the ball. Ref ruled goal out so no fault on the lino.
2 - Wycombe pen was outside the box
3 - Ipswich should have had an obvious pen - cant remember what for
4 - Ipswich should of had a player sent off - my guess for the tackle leading up to the pen
5 - Cant remember as was a bit drunk

Funny thing is the following week same ref was reffing Stowmarket Town match.

For number 2 Chambers would’ve got sent off if he did get the call correct.

For 3 Nolan had a shot in the first half and hit Wycombe defenders arm.

4, yeah Donacian should’ve seen red.

I also know someone who knows the linesman who put his flag up for our "goal", the lino was thrown under the bus for that decision.

Linesman told the ref it came off the Wycombe defender, and was no handball involved. Ref he didn't care and was disallowing it and told him to put the flag up.
The ref is universally disliked for being an arrogant w**ker and is known for it.

Suppose linesman should have stood his ground told him he wasn't going to do it.

No wonder the ref was so sh1t, taking point 5 into account.

That was the other one, Chambers should of been sent off. He gave the pen which I assume saved him from a red as new rules say that is punishment enough.

It was the lino that reffed Stowmarket, not the ref.

Ar OK my mistake. Did say I was a bit tipsy.

Must be why the chap I was speaking to knows him as he works for Suffolk FA so presume the lino is local ish.

It will only be no red card if it was a genuine attempt to play the ball but it wasn’t.

Three incorrect calls within ten seconds is some going.

Tbh after watching it back a few times slowed down I don’t think Chambers even touched him.

But the lino did not move away from the corner flag as he would normally do if the goal was being allowed. He did not actually raise his flag until after talking to the referee but the fact that he remained by the corner flag suggested to me that he (the lino) had seen something wrong with the 'goal'.

Surely if he's seen something he puts his flag up. It is then up to the ref to speak to him and overrule if he doesn't agree. Both added to the confusion - and got it wrong.

It seems he was unsure if Jackson had touched the ball so was looking to the ref who would of been in a better position to see to make the correct call which he didnt.

But it should have been Donacien's second yellow.

Yes, if he thought something was wrong with the goal he should have raised his flag but on the other hand if he did NOT think there was something wrong why the hell did he stay by the corner flag?

Agree, by staying where he was and not raising his flag he added to the confusion.

Ok but then would it not have been better to raise his flag for a possible offside and then decide along with the referee if Jackson had touched it?

I think staying where he was and NOT raising his flag added to the problems but I have no idea what the official instructions to lino's is in such a situation.

As you allude to, the instruction to the assistant would have been to remain where he was and use his headset to beckon the referee over, not to raise his flag as, should the ref decide the player hasn’t touched the ball, he would appear to be overruling the assistant.

Thank you, that makes sense.

With me not knowing the instructions it seemed strange to me that he stayed by the corner flag but did NOT raise his flag-that bit makes sense now.

Bad ref'ing has been a feature in English football for far too long.

Having TV pundits pour over tv replay's for hours is no good to anyone other than the tv companies, the FA/PL/EFL have lost the plot
