Bit of a sad week on 20:33 - Dec 6 with 982 views | Pinewoodblue | As we get older these reminders that we are not immortal occur with greater frequency but never become any easier. Especially when the departed is younger than we are. In recent years have said farewell to too many all younger than I am, two at least twenty years younger. I often wonder how my mother, heading towards her 99th birthday copes with it.

Bit of a sad week on 20:42 - Dec 6 with 936 views | BanksterDebtSlave | While obviously sharing everyone's sentiments I am becoming increasingly angry at the seemingly relentless march of cancers particularly on learning that the highest rates of increase are in the very youngest! My suspicion is that it is a case of toxic sh1t in........toxic sh1t out......but who is going to pay for that research?

Not sure if it will help you cope with those passings but that reminder of Randy Newman's 'God's Song' I will try to keep in mind, like not a few of Newman's lyrics it might not be comforting but it does provide some type of iron clad solace in the form of knowing someone else is on a wavelength similar to ours.

Bit of a sad week on 21:33 - Dec 6 with 831 views | Lord_Lucan | My dad had a motherf*cker of a brain tumour. It wasn't a great time of my life but to be honest it at least gave us time to say goodbye rather than a straight heart attack or the like.

That's a good way of looking at it, although it is tough to see the tumour taking control.

At the end of the day Sundaze we all know that we are going to die. My dad had great times with all of us and even when he was muddled an d fuddled he remembered things now and again and we laughed. The only way to deal with death is to laugh at it. My dads funeral was a blast, jazz band, hog roast and all that. My dad was getting on for 80, people die at 80 and to be fair it is quite a decent age. Unfortunately we all have to deal with these things. It's when the youngsters are involved that it burns. By the way - that doesn't mean to undermine your hurt FB [Post edited 7 Dec 2019 10:25]

No worries. The lass with cancer died after 16 months. Her husband now has to bring up three kids, all under eleven. It's them I feel most for.
