New Stadium for Cambridge 08:15 - Dec 4 with 3535 viewswkj

Certainly isn't the identikit bowl design, but I can tell if this is ugly or beautiful.

Or as Stephen Fry recently alluded to in reference to Piers Morgan and Katie Hopkins's new manual on Cambridge based river craft: Care of Punts.

And as Fry said on I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue's Uxbridge English Dictionary 'Countryside - the murder of Piers Morgan'

Two new stadiums for Cambridge, then.

City having a new one too but further out, in Sawston.

Utterly barmy - they should have one decent one between them. In fact that should have happened back in the 70's when city still had Milton Road which took 15,000 in only 2 stands.

Indeed - back in our non-league days, just before successful election, games against Cambridge City were big affairs with good attendances.

I like it, shame it is out of the city though

Its really out of the city which will be a shame as the Abbey has a nice community , in the town feel about it with pubs nearby and many walk to the ground. That site the current stadium stands on in Newmarket Road must be worth a bomb.

Nearest pub would be the other side of the A14 roundabout

Quy has two pubs.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

...........not sure they're going to cope with away fans and it then becomes a drive for CU fans rather than a walk up from Town or the Corner House, Wrestlers or Dobblers. Personnally, I'm not too kean when stadiums move out of town and lose that community connection. Not sure that Nick Hornby would ever have gone if the stadium was in Quy.

Land values are ridiculous in Cambridge. I imagine if they raffle off the land on Newmarket Road it will pay for a decent slug of the new ground. It's a shame but it's reality.

They are allegedly building 15,000 houses on the Marshall's airport land and the other development near the p&r.

I think Quy is a strange location personally. It has one extremely pot-holed road through it.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Think it's georgous myself - like this angle:

Practically, hope those long slits are windows rather than gaps or all the sound will leak

Edit: love a bit of stadium porn so ta.

Slits allows the wind through so it suits their physical long ball style, like the open corners at Stoke's stadium preventing the ball staying still for a goal kick.
