It felt quite new but we think its probably about 9 years old now. Fridges used to live forever. Is this normal now?

Depends which bit has gone wrong. The motor and pump is usually a sealed unit, then you have the issue of not releasing the gas (and having to refill the system if you did).
I'd have thought there must be people who do repairs, for commercial fridges and freezers. |  |

Sometimes it's just a fridge's time to go. Don't be sad though, it happens to them all. Eventually a fridge just hears the call and knows it's time to go home via white transit van to live forever more in the hedgerow of a country lane. [Post edited 3 Nov 2019 20:31]

If you do go for a new one, AO.com usually has some good deals and regular offer codes on top of that. Time came to replace mine last month, ended up getting a new one about £200 cheaper than anywhere else I'd seen it. Good on delivery too. |  |
