Reflective... Dying dad asks to see his favourite beach on his way home to die. 20:48 - Sep 1 with 870 viewsmidastouch

As much as I love football the following famous quote from Bill Shankley has always been a stretch too far for me:

"Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that."

Especially when you see something as powerful as this:

After reading the above and watching the associated video I couldn't help but remember this:

Apologies if this isn't the sort of Sunday medicine you want to see but I have to confess Sunday nights do sometimes make me rather reflective! Further apologies to anybody that isn't moved by this but I have to say I was (that article in the Sun hit me like a ton of bricks!) and I thought it was worth sharing. Hopefully one or two of you might find it as moving as I did.

I live within walking distance of a beautiful beach and yet I often take it completely for granted. Tomorrow however I'm going down there and go for a nice stroll while counting my blessings. I intend to soak it all up.

Sorry to bring you down after a cracking weekend of football.
Remember, don't ever invite me out for a pint on a Sunday night!

Cheers! ;-)
