For the first he quite deliberately blocked a quick free kick. It certainly wasn't like the occasions I hate when players deliberately aim a quick free kick at a player to get them cautioned.

The penalty was a foul outside the box. It did continue into the box but last season we would have had a free kick outside the box (or even no foul).
When you are doing well the "luck" often seems to go with you. Long may it continue because we certainly didn't seem to get too many decisions last season. |  |

Good on Chambers. He would have known the player had been booked already and could easily had rolled around like a Norwich player. The foul didn't look bad at first and it was right in front of me. I looked worse on the TV highlights and yes the ref did ask the lino so it was good refereeing. As he did also for the penalty decision. Maybe luck has turned our way at long last.
Thought the Shrews game plan was to commit industrial blatant fouls all over the pitch. The amount of pull backs and trips reminded me of the Bolton game years ago. The ref is known for the amount of cards he gives every game so it was poor management by them.
Thought they had the better chances for the twenty minutes after the sending off which is disappointing. Glad when Downes scored the third to cement the win. Very good win with still loads of room for improvement which should be fun for the rest of the season. |  | | |

I do wonder what goes on in the heads of some players. I know they are in the emotion of the game but getting yourself sent off so early for a pointless foul in an pointless area of the pitch absolutely kills your team. To then have fans moaning at ref rather than at the own player is somewhat bizarre. I does give their manager a chance to deflect from the result I guess. | | | |
