Not going great. The conditions meant bowling was the right call for me and we've been a bit unlucky with the rain delays but the last hour or so our bowling and fielding have been poor. I think the Aussies will be pretty happy thus far.

I was mentally preparing myself for a long, frustrating day of watching Australia grind out a big lead tomorrow. It may still happen but we've dragged it back from an hour ago.

It'll be tough for them now. If we can knock another one over they'll do well to make 250.

And with that Pattinson is gone!

Incredible last couple of hours for England.

Given there's a century partnership in there too, this could have been another totally hilarious score. Really costly hour that.

Labauschagne looks like he played really well again.

Looked like the bowl first decision was backfiring horribly for a while there.

We should....should have the best of the weather now to build a commanding lead.

I do not want to switch TMS on tomorrow lunchtime to find we are 50-4 in perfect batting conditions.

It's like watching baseball, curling or strange shinto ritual. I just don't get it.

It's a ball and then there's some physics.

If that's the best then ... each to their own.

Apart from a dodgy try hard hour after tea today, the bowling was very good just didn’t get the rewards.

The last two hours more than made amends. That broad ball that took top of off was, as you say rommers, a thing of beauty.

And in jofra, we have a fvcking superstar.

Trailing vapour since 1999.

Head's wicket was indeed beautiful - but Wade's was so funny!

Also rather enjoyed Paine getting a nutcracker which floored him, & the wit behind me yelling to the other players who went up to him all concerned - "give it a rub"! plus the big screen showing poor Mrs Paine's hands flying up to her very shocked & worried face!

I think Archer's on a hattrick when the Aussies get to bat again? Hopefully it will be Sunday afternoon before he has the chance.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Blimey. How long has it been since we batted two whole days of a test match?

Because it was a thread about cricket and I reacted to a particular detail.

FWIW I don't mind cricket threads. But all seemed a bit weird from the outside.

Can you explain why that is so special? Or is it that people want it to be special?

Lolz. We'll do well to reach 50 at this rate.

So predictable.
