Nothing before the 17:50 left, but with the two previous trains cancelled and only three coach's a large number of Town fans were left at the station when this very full train pulled out. But it appears from other posts below a train of nodge fans turned up and they caused trouble, with Newcastle fans joining in as well.

OK, it was probably full as the announcement on the train to Peterborough said it would be a two coach train, but there was a 17:20 as well.

It is amazing that the train companies just keep selling tickets regardless of the lack of trains available to make the journey being purchased.

The original three carriage train on the earlier service had to be taken out of action due to a fight that required Police on it's earlier working into Peterborough to form the train to Ipswich is what the station staff told me, apparently it was in a bad state and couldn't be used in service so they had to assign a 2 car or nothing.

Pepper spray not tear gas,

For some bizarre and unfathomable reason a bunch of Newcastle fans rushed the platform that the Ipswich train was leaving from.

Town fans assumed they were Nodgers.

Chanting and abuse ensued.

Police cordoned off the train doors and the Geordies tried to rush them, police used batons and pepper spray to stop them.

Town fans pulled the communication cord to stop the train leaving so they could get out and fight the geordies.

Police used pepper spray to stop town fans getting out.

Police herded the geordies away.

More rumpus as Town fans kept pulling the communication cord to get out and try to mix it with the geordies. Old Bill not happy pulled some Town fans from the train.

Town fans still kept pulling the comms cord to the point that it broke and it was not safe for the train to leave.

Lots of pushing, shoving , shouting, chest pumping and looking hard.

And a two hour delay as that train was cancelled and everyone had to get on the next one

The next train arrived with a bunch of Geordies on it which was received with chants of 'One Bobby Robson' and a kind of love in.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.

Maybe, from a Geordie perspective, the accents are difficult to tell apart (much like them and Sunderland, for us).

I was on the 5.34. Had no other choice but to leave at 5.20 because it was only 2 coaches and people kept piling on. Police and staff just didnt seem to have a clue. Supposed to be platform 6 as usual but went from 5.

On the way up to Peterborough the guard informed the train that all services including the added 5.34 would stop at ALL usual stops. The station staff said the same thing on the platform. However this trains first stop was bury. Didnt even stop at Ely. Whole thing was a mess and because of one person pulling the cord as they wanted to get off earlier at March or Ely the whole journey took an extra 30 minutes as we kept slowing down.

As a number have said it's disgusting how bad they organise these things for what they charge. They sell far too many tickets when they know theres not enough space.

However still a class day out. Our fans were awesome.

There were incidents around 11am at Ely where Norwich, Town and Geordies were all involved, so maybe this was the result of that...
