Any refs out there that would think this is enough for a postponement?

Doubt that but could be to Sunderland's advantage given the high winds at the Stadum of Light on occasions we've been there before.

Just Don’t play the ball in the sky , just keep it on the deck!

At least it looms like we won’t have the rain with it!

If this was McCarthy’s hoof team we would be screwed

Thankfully it’s not

Only if the goal kick goes out for a corner behind the taking keeper.

Played plenty of long balls against Burton to good effect. Still maintain if Mccarthy had been in charge for the Burton win loads of people would be complaining about just 'hoofing' it to Norwood.

What?? I'm riding the 60 mile Crafted Classique in the morning, might not make it back in time for kick off at all if that's the case!!!

We averaged the most long passes in the league last season under Lambert.

I was thinking more Health and Safety gone mad. 50mph winds now expected so does "crowd safety" come in to play?

28mph gusting 39mph according to the extremely reliable dark skies app.

Should be fine but pretty gusty.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

most weather sites are reporting windspeeds in the 20 -30 mph zone, with gusts up to the high 40s in Ipswich.

Those gusts, most likely will be the FPR crowd sucking the ball into the Sunderland net.

I was planning to cycle seven miles to see a band on Saturday evening. I figure with the wind direction it will take me twenty minutes to get there and about two hours to get home!

It's not the ref's call. Frequent gusts of wind above 45mph mean public places should be closed for safety reasons. So on that basis the game should already have been postponed, like some of the festivals where 45 mph winds are expected. If there are frequent gusts of 45mph plus during the game the match has to be postponed for safety reasons. High sided vehicles should not be driving either - which might include coaches full of Sunderland players.

Long balls and Chambers hoofing are very different things.

Not sure if I can get to the game for health reasons, that could have severe impact on me, and I am gutted if I have to miss it.

Also I reckon the Orwell Bridge will be closed too, which is going to make it chaos to get there.
