TWTD, I need your help.

Making a curry tonight but wondering whether to make rice, daal or rice AND daal. How many starches is it permissible to have on one plate? Then there is the issue of naan or no naan.

Ditch the daal in favour of a veggie side? Or lose the long grain?

Thoughts, please...

Chips

Good point, sitterz.

Could just add chip shop curry sauce to cut up savs too. No one would be any the wiser.

Both. You'd have rice and Bombay spuds, so why not?

Thanks, J2.

I have taken Dubbers' advice and gone with both. Oh balls. I've just remembered something I didn't buy at the shop.

It's a contentious one, but: sultanas in the rice. I like it.

Certainly a profound problem
So the best way of dealing with it is to make khichidi
bung them both in same pot
and add some extras(veg, spices...)

I'll often make a chicken [or whatever] pilau and a dhal to go with it.

Chapatis to eat that with, my friend, not naan.

Good way to use stuff 'left over', though I dislike that term as it sounds like food scrapes from someone's plate.

Starch is widely recognised as the most delicious food group, and as such experts recommend having at least five in every meal. Rice, dhal, naan, poppadom, saag aloo (veggie friendly too!) should sort you out for a perfectly balanced meal.

The chicken tikka lasagne is hardly a new concept.
